Pulse source for calibration and test

The nanosecond pulse generator, which is used to measure the time domain response and pulse propagation characteristics of the measurement system, requires light weight, small volume, adjustable pulse parameters and high waveform stability. Considering the above requirements, a nanosecond pulse generator with electric field energy storage based on mercury switch is designed in this paper. Aiming at the key factors affecting the output waveform parameters of the generator, the following work is mainly carried out: the working principle of the generator is described from the perspective of equivalent circuit and wave process, and the corresponding waveform parameter expressions of three transient processes of LCR circuit are deduced and calculated; Pspice software is used to study the influence of stray parameters on the output waveform. The results show that the distribution parameters of charging circuit and load end make the front and back edge of the pulse slow down, and the top and back edge of the pulse have strong overshoot; the distribution parameters of the switch cause the damping oscillation waveform at the top and back edge of the rectangular pulse, and the oscillation period and damping coefficient have a corresponding relationship with the distribution parameters.
