The nanosecond pulse generator, which is used to measure the time domain response and pulse propagation characteristics of the measurement system, requires light weight, small volume, adjustable pulse parameters and high waveform stability. Considering the above requirements, a nanosecond pulse generator with electric field energy storage based on mercury switch is designed in this paper. Aiming at the key factors affecting the output waveform parameters of the generator, the following work is mainly carried out: the working principle of the generator is described from the perspective of equivalent circuit and wave process, and the corresponding waveform parameter expressions of three transient processes of LCR circuit are deduced and calculated; Pspice software is used to study the influence of stray parameters on the output waveform.
